The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) is actively pursuing the digital transformation of Korea and Spain in cooperation with a Spanish engineering firm.

KETI announced on the 30th that it has signed an MOU with CT Ingenieros, a Spanish engineering company, covering the promotion of joint R&D, including international joint research in the field of AI platforms, and the exchange of personnel and information.

KETI is continuously researching advanced technologies applicable to smart farms, such as developing time-series sensor data-based greenhouse farming environment analysis and edge intelligence deployment and management technologies.

Citi Ingenieros is a global engineering firm headquartered in Madrid, Spain, providing engineering services in fields such as automotive, aviation, railways, and renewable energy generation, and is recently expanding its scope of activities into industrial digital transformation, including smart manufacturing innovation.

As part of the Korea-Spain International Joint Research (KRESIP), KETI is leading the 'Development of AI Service Platform Technology for Smart Farm Precision Agriculture Supported by Edge Computing' project together with Citi Ingenieros, and is conducting joint research on developing advanced technologies for precision agriculture and methods for their application.

This project involves domestic software and system design solution specialists such as Daliworks Co., Ltd. and Narae Trend Co., Ltd., as well as domestic universities.KETI formed a consortium in conjunction with companies and institutions that have secured key technological capabilities such as big data, cloud, and edge computing.

Through this agreement, KETI and Citi Ingenieros expect that accessibility to the smart farm market will expand by developing common technologies for the different agricultural environments between Korea and Spain and securing key technological capabilities in the field of precision agriculture.

In addition, both organizations agreed to strengthen industrial technology cooperation between the two countries by expanding mutual cooperation into fields of industrial digital transformation, such as digital twins, augmented reality, and IoT.

KETI President Shin Hee-dong stated, “The signing of this memorandum of understanding has laid the foundation to expand the scope of R&D cooperation with Citi Ingenieros,” adding, “We will continue to discuss ways to enhance the industrial and technological competitiveness of both countries, such as identifying specific cooperation items that align with the era of industrial digital transformation.”
