STMicroelectronics (Korea Branch Representative Park Jun-sik) has introduced a power module utilizing ST's second-generation silicon carbide (SiC) technology, raising expectations that the new product will enhance high-current processing performance while minimizing losses.

ST announced on the 7th that it has released two STPOWER modules equipped with 1,200V silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs in a standard configuration.

Each module is equipped with ST’s ACEPACK 2 package technology, enabling high power density and easy assembly.

The first module among the new products, the A2F12M12W2-F1, is a 4-pack module that provides a convenient, compact full-bridge solution and is suitable for circuits such as DC/DC converters.

In addition, another module, the A2U12M12W2-F2, uses a 3-level T-type topology to maintain consistent output voltage quality while maintaining high conduction and switching efficiency.

The MOSFETs mounted in the two modules utilize ST's second-generation SiC technology, which offers excellent RDS(on) x die area performance figures (FOM), minimizing losses while enhancing high-current handling performance.

Both the full bridge and T-type topologies have a representative RDS(on) value of 13 mΩ per die, handling high-power applications and ensuring excellent energy efficiency with low heat dissipation and easy thermal management.

ACEPACThe K2 package features an efficient alumina substrate and a DBC (Direct Bonded Copper) die attached, making it small in size and increasing power density.

The exterior is connected with press-fit pins, making assembly easy even in equipment in potentially harsh environments such as charging stations, energy storage, solar energy power conversion, and electric vehicles (EVs).

This package provides 2.5 kVrms of isolation and has a built-in NTC temperature sensor that can be used to protect or diagnose the system.

The modules are currently in production, and both are priced at $235.20 per unit. The A2F12M12W2-F1 is supplied in a 4-pack configuration, while the A2U12M12W2-F2 is supplied in a 3-level T-type inverter configuration.
