All companies worldwide are strengthening their Cloud Native strategies. The cloud ecosystem has now reached a turning point.

Dro Davidov, CEO of Aqua Security, predicted that 95% of companies would be in the cloud-native realm by 2025 and expressed concern that security issues would emerge as a result.

Aqua Security, a cloud-native security company, held a press conference at the Chosun Palace Hotel in Seoul on the 15th. At the conference, the company announced official service support for CNAPP (Cloud Native Application Protection Platform) in the Korean market, introduced newly launched SaaS solutions, and presented its future service direction for the domestic market.

Cloud-native is a method of building and running applications to take full advantage of the cloud, and the fundamental changes accompanying the transition to cloud-native include increased DevOps speed, new hybrid stacks, and extensive use of open source. Companies can aim for development productivity, business agility, scalability, and cost reduction through the benefits of using the cloud.

With the adoption of cloud-native technologies, traditional security tools can no longer protect workloads. CEO Dro Davidov emphasized that this is both a challenge and an opportunity, stating, “Using the cloud is actually an opportunity to strengthen security.”

While existing legacy security suffered from a lack of visibility due to the difficulty of context analysis in cloud-native environments, a lack of dynamism due to the difficulty of tracking and managing ephemeral workloads, and borderless security that could not control traffic, cloud security can be brought as a single security solution that connects the whole.

Aqua Security emphasized that the 'Aqua CNAPP Platform' is Aqua's proprietary comprehensive security tool designed to protect cloud-native applications and block cloud-native attacks, and that it provides integrated security solutions across the lifecycle and workload.

Aqua Security emphasized that, in particular, this solution performs compliance checks on the requirements stipulated by the Korean government. The Korean government operates ISMS-P (Information Security Management System), which certifies a series of measures and activities for information protection in accordance with the Information and Communications Network Act and the Personal Information Protection Act. ISMS-P is administered by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) under the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Aqua Security plans to provide support for domestic cloud services, including the development of integration plugins for domestic CSPs (Cloud Service Providers). Through this, Aqua Security intends to focus on pioneering the financial, government and public, and e-commerce sectors in Korea.

Among these, the company announced plans to focus particularly on the e-commerce industry to enhance service quality tailored to the business characteristics of client companies providing services in the cloud. Ahead of the domestic launch of this SaaS solution, Aqua Security opened a Seoul office and appointed Lee Eun-ok as the General Manager to support growth in the Korean market and its growing customer base in 2021.

Branch Manager Lee Eun-ok stated, “We have grown rapidly by securing clients since last year,” adding, “We are acquiring a diverse range of clients, starting with the financial sector and expanding to retail and startups.” She noted that the domestic business environment is in the cloud-native transition phase, and due to significant disparities in implementation among companies, the provision of hybrid and integrated solutions is necessary.

As experts predict that the security market will be reshaped, Aqua Security is competing with Palo Alto Networks and Trend Micro in the field of cloud-integrated security solutions. While some other small companies only support specific solutions, CEO Dro Davidov predicted that many more security solution companies would make a name for themselves in the next three to four years.

Meanwhile, Aqua Security Korea plans to launch a free threat analysis service and sales promotion starting at the end of this month to commemorate the launch of its domestic region.
