SKT Expands Web Access to its Video Conferencing Service "Midas"

SKT's 'WASM' technology delivers app-level quality.
SK Telecom is increasing user convenience by providing its AI video conferencing service 'MeetUs' on PC web without installing a separate app.
SK Telecom announced on the 19th that it has released the beta version of 'MeetUs', a web-based participation service.
SKT's "Midas" service allows users to create video conferences using their contact information. It's available on both mobile and PC, and users can even switch between mobile and PC connections during use.
With the opening of the beta service for participating via the web, you can enter the meeting as a guest by clicking on the URL invitation link without installing the 'Midas' app on your PC.
SKT also added that this Midas application used SKT's own technology utilizing WASM (WebAssembly) to ensure app-level quality.
Meanwhile, SKT is holding a new Midas sign-up event until the 30th of this month.
SK Telecom Choi Jae-hoon A. The Comm Manager stated, “We have introduced the web participation feature so that customers can use Midas more easily in the era of AI services,” and “The response was so good that more than 30% of guest users participated via the web during the pre-test period. We will continue to consider customer-oriented services tailored to various usage patterns.”

SK Telecom has successfully developed transparent antenna equipment and RIS (Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface) technology through more than three years of joint research cooperation with chemical materials company Dongwoo Fine-Chem. European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.
