SM Steel (CEO Kim Ki-ho), a specialized manufacturer of stainless steel plates, invited customers from the central region to its Gunsan factory to experience the stainless steel plate production firsthand and enhance their understanding of the products.

SM Steel held an invitation event for customers in the Chungcheong and Gyeongbuk regions at its Gunsan plant on the 20th.

This event was the second event following the customer invitation event in the Honam region last June, and proceeded in the order of an introduction to the Gunsan plant followed by a tour of the plate production facilities and processes.

The client companies participating in the event had the opportunity to enhance their understanding of stainless steel plates by seeing the factory's latest equipment firsthand and receiving guidance on-site.

SM Steel Co., Ltd.'s Gunsan Plant, a manufacturing affiliate of SM Group (Chairman Woo Oh-hyun), was completed in June 2020 with an investment of 150 billion won and has currently established a production system with an annual capacity of 54,000 tons. With the addition of one heat treatment furnace next year, the annual production capacity of 100,000 tons will be completed.

Im Ok-su, CEO of Oksu Metal Co., Ltd., a mid-sized company based in Dangjin, Chungnam, who participated in the event, offered his praise, saying, “I had been anxious about the supply of stainless steel materials recently, but now that I have actually come here, it seems like this has been an opportunity to dispel my concerns regarding the supply of stainless steel plates. I had been curious about the facilities and operational status of SM Steel’s plate factory, and as the saying goes, ‘seeing is believing,’ so I am glad I came to take a look. In particular, seeing the leveler called the ‘World Best Super Leveler’ with my own eyes gives me confidence in those words.”

Kang Seon-tae, Head of SM Steel’s Central Sales Group, emphasized, “We will take the words of our client to heart today and do our utmost to provide the best products they desire in a timely and rapid manner,” adding, “We will solidify the unwavering trust with our valued customers through sincere customer service.”

After obtaining all nine major classification society certifications from full member countries of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) in March 2022, SM Steel is supplying products to shipyards that require strict quality standards.

In addition, the company is taking rapid steps to expand its heavy plate business, such as shipping the first ultra-wide 3,750mm product in Korea in May 2022.

In addition, since July of last year, the company has been strengthening communication with its customers by introducing the brand 'SUPER PLATE' and the slogan 'Make it Better' for its STS steel plates.
