16 types of core technologies in the smart ICT-E field in Changwon, Ansan, Cheongju, and Incheon regions have been introduced, and the commercialization and revitalization of public technologies through linkages between small but strong special zones are expected.

The Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI, Acting President Kim Nam-gyun), which leads the Changwon Small but Strong Special Zone in Gyeongnam, held the 'Smart ICT-E Promising Technology Briefing' at COEX on the 5th together with the Ansan, Cheongju, and Seo-gu, Incheon Small but Strong Special Zones. The event was attended by over 100 representatives from 50 companies.

This briefing session was organized to promote the commercialization of public technologies and contribute to the development of small but strong special zones and related companies by strengthening ties among innovation stakeholders in industry, academia, and research.

A total of 16 technologies possessed by the four small but strong special zones were introduced at the briefing.

In the Changwon Small but Strong Special Zone, which has 'intelligent electric-based mechanical convergence' as its specialized keyword, technology presentations were given centered around KERI on: △optimal demand management technology using V2G electric vehicles (Dr. Gil-Sung Byun) △eco-friendly and high-efficiency energy-saving permanent magnet induction heater (Dr. Jun-Han Bae) △electric vehicle charging control and communication technology (Dr. Jae-Jo Lee) △high-performance and low-power smart hearing aid system (Dr. Young-Jin Park).

Ansan Small-Scale Special Zone, specializing in 'ICT convergence components and materials,' introduced technologies such as a tactile robot gripper (Professor Young-Jin Choi) and a method and system for creating virtual/augmented reality spaces (Professor Myung-Ryul Choi) centered around Hanyang University's ERICA Campus; Cheongju Small-Scale Special Zone, promoting the development of 'smart IT components and systems,' introduced technologies such as a LiDAR sensor calibration method using precision maps (Professor Tae-Hyung Park) and a server-based component inspection method and a system and device therefor (Professor Tae-Hyung Park) centered around Chungbuk National University; and Incheon Seo-gu Small-Scale Special Zone, covering the field of 'ICT convergence environmental pollution treatment and management,' introduced technologies such as a condensation prediction system and method using surface temperature estimation techniques (Professor Kwang-Il Hwang) and a device for monitoring leakage in water pipe networks (Professor Ji-Beom Kim) centered around Incheon National University.

Following the briefing session, a 'Technology Consultation Roundtable' was organized to provide a valuable opportunity for company representatives interested in the technology to discuss technology commercialization with the researchers in charge.

Kim Jong-wook, Head of the Strategic Policy Division at KERI, said, “The specialized technologies possessed by small but strong special zones in each region “There are a great many of them, and rather than seeking technology users only within each region, the right direction is to broaden the scope through collaboration and expand commercialization opportunities,” he said. “In this spirit, today’s briefing session, jointly organized by four small but strong special zones, can be described as a comprehensive gift set of promising technologies for entrepreneurs thirsty for innovation.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute is a government-funded research institute under the National Science and Technology Research Council of the Ministry of Science and ICT.
