NXP Semiconductors supports innovation and user experience by simplifying the creation of interoperable IoT devices through a matter-enabled development platform.

NXP Semiconductors announced on the 2nd that it has released a new matter-enabled development platform that enables the simplification and acceleration of the creation of matter devices for smart homes and buildings.

With the new Matter development platform, designers can easily leverage NXP’s extensive portfolio across processing, connectivity, and security solutions to create a wide range of IoT devices, from battery-powered devices such as sensors and actuators to complex gateways equipped with Thread Border Routers and Matter controller capabilities.

NXP’s Matter-enabled development platform, which is being released now, enables easy and rapid IoT development and eliminates risks by utilizing commercially available evaluation boards and tools, downloadable software, getting started guides, application notes, schematics, training videos, and a connected support community. The platform is currently awaiting confirmation of CSA Matter certification.

In addition, NXP collaborates with Apple, Amazon, Google, and SmartThings and participates in the Matter Early Access program to help NXP customers enable their products to work with NXP and other ecosystems.

The development platform provides a dedicated EdgeLock security element and a security authenticator to provide complete turnkey Matter security, including Matter device certificates and credential provisioning.

The NXP development platform provides complete turnkey material security through the dedicated EdgeLock SE05x security element and EdgeLock A5000 security credential.

A Plug & Trust security element that can connect to all types of processors using a standard I2C interface stores Matter proof keys and certificates on the device and provides hardware-accelerated execution of Matter authentication protocols.

This enables OEMs to simplify Matter security specifications, particularly the generation and injection of attestation and commissioning credentials, and security logistics related to the Matter ecosystem, and accelerate compliance.

In addition, OEMs can utilize NXP EdgeLock security elements and security credentials that are Common Criteria EAL6+ certified to protect user data and personal information, device integrity, and secure connections to multiple clouds, including software update servers.

NXP is continuously driving expanded capabilities and integrations that enable innovation for the smart home and building markets.
