Vertiv, a specialist in core digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, has stepped up to support the data center industry in reducing carbon emissions and water usage.

Vertiv announced on the 7th that it provides a data center sustainability guide as an online resource to help data center operators who want to practice eco-friendly management.

According to a report by the International Energy Agency (IEA), data centers account for about 1% of global electricity demand.

Until 2020, the data center industry was able to limit the impact of capacity growth on overall energy consumption by improving operational efficiency.

On the other hand, global internet traffic surged by more than 40% in 2020, and according to Market Intelligence, data center construction is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13% over the next five years.

In addition to these trends, as demands for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water usage increase, data center operators have sought new solutions to increase equipment utilization and eliminate remaining inefficiencies, while phasing out water-intensive cooling technologies and reducing reliance on carbon-based energy sources.
