SM Steel (CEO Kim Ki-ho), a manufacturer specializing in thick stainless steel plates, invited customers in the metropolitan area to see its production line in person, dispelling concerns about material procurement caused by recent natural disasters.

SM Steel invited customers from the metropolitan area to its Gunsan plant on the 9th for a factory tour. The event was a great success, with approximately 20 customers from the metropolitan area attending.

This event was held as part of the 'Seeing is Believing' program to strengthen communication with client companies.

Customers participating in the event had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of stainless steel plates through an introduction to the SM Steel Gunsan Plant and a tour of the plate production facilities and processes.

SM Steel Co., Ltd.'s Gunsan Plant, a manufacturing affiliate of SM Group (Chairman Woo Oh-hyun), is the second stainless steel plate plant in Korea. It was completed in June 2020 and has now entered a stabilization phase. By this year, a production capacity of 54,000 tons has been established, and next year, when the expansion of one heat treatment furnace is completed, a production capacity of 100,000 tons will be completed.

Jeong Jae-young, CEO of Special Metal Service Co., Ltd., who participated in the event, said, “I visited with concerns that there might be difficulties in material supply due to various recent factors. However, I confirmed that the entire factory process is operating normally, products are being produced stably, and shipments are being made as scheduled. This visit served as an opportunity to gain even greater trust not only in the quality of SM Steel products but also in their adherence to delivery deadlines.”

After obtaining all nine major classification society certifications from full member countries of IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) in March 2022, SM Steel is supplying products to domestic and international shipbuilders that require strict quality standards.

In addition, the company is taking a proactive step in expanding its supply area for thick plates, such as shipping the first ultra-wide 3,750mm product in the country last May.

Along with this, since July of last year, the company has been strengthening communication with customers by introducing the 'SUPER PLATE' brand and the slogan 'Make it Better' for its stainless steel plates.
