ASML, the world's largest exposure equipment company, has established its first production base in Korea, laying the foundation for expanding the domestic supply of semiconductor equipment.

ASML held a groundbreaking ceremony for its 'New Campus' in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province on the 16th.

ASML signed an MOU with Hwaseong City and Gyeonggi Province in November 2021 and has been investing approximately KRW 240 billion in the Hwaseong New Campus, which will be built on land used as urban support facilities in Dongtan 2 New Town. This space will house a new cluster including ASML Korea's new headquarters, a remanufacturing center (Local Repair Center, LRC), a global training center, and an experience center.

The new campus will house a Remanufacturing Center (LRC), scheduled for occupancy in December 2024, and will expand collaboration with domestic semiconductor companies related to component repair. The Global Training Center, staffed by trainers who deliver thousands of hours of training annually, will provide comprehensive training for EUV and DUV engineers in a safe and cost-effective manner for ASML employees and customers.

The Experience Center, a permanent 300-square-meter space for the local community, will feature exhibitions showcasing semiconductor manufacturing processes and ASML's technological history, as well as science camps, recruitment events, and industry-academia collaboration programs. The Science Camp is one of the volunteer activities that ASML Korea employees continue to participate in every year. After the Experience Center is completed, we plan to more actively provide science education for children in the local area.

ASML CEO Peter Wennink said, “We would like to express our gratitude to the Korean government, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Gyeonggi Province, and Hwaseong City, for their efforts in many ways toward the completion of ASML’s New Campus.” He added, “ASML is investing to support our customers in the long term, not just by providing equipment and technical services. We hope that our efforts at the Hwaseong New Campus will bear fruit in the form of future growth and nurturing top talent.”
