The Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Lee Jeong-hwan), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, has been recognized for its contribution to Korea's technological independence.

The Korea Materials Research Institute announced on the 25th that it had won the 2022 Korea Trustworthiness Award (Government and Public Sector).

The Korea Materials Research Institute, selected as this year's recipient of the government-public sector award, is a leading research institute in the domestic materials field and has been recognized for its contributions to enhancing the reliability of domestic materials and parts companies as well as to the development of national industries.

The Korea Materials Research Institute has been striving to improve the reliability of the materials and components industry by developing various materials reliability-related technologies and supporting semi-mass production demonstrations, centered around the Materials and Components Damage Cause Analysis Center (2005) and the Metal Materials Comprehensive Center (2012).

Lee Jeong-hwan, president of the Korea Institute of Materials Science, said, “This award will be a great opportunity to further enhance the nation’s industrial competitiveness,” and added, “The Korea Institute of Materials Science will not be satisfied with this achievement and will continue to do its best to enable more companies to participate in technological independence.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Reliability Award is presented in recognition of contributions to enhancing the reliability of Korean materials, parts, and products, thereby contributing to strengthening corporate competitiveness and contributing to the development of industry and the national economy. This award is presented by the Korea Reliability Society (President Park Jeong-won) to managers, individuals with merit, and organizations in the government, public, manufacturing, service, and small and medium-sized enterprises sectors.
