Various IoT services launched around the world
With the world's first open-source IoT platform created by the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong), global developers competed in various IoT technologies such as smart cities and smart homes, confirming the potential for the expansion of our technology in the future global IoT platform market.
KETI announced on the 28th that it held an online and offline awards ceremony as the '6th KETI Mobius International Developers Conference' concluded successfully, showcasing various IoT services.
Mobius is the world's first open-source IoT platform released by KETI in 2015 based on the global IoT standard oneM2M. Version 3.0, featuring enhanced reliability and big data analysis capabilities, was released in October 2019, and over 1,000 companies and organizations worldwide are utilizing it for numerous public and corporate projects.
This competition was held online in a non-face-to-face format for three months starting last September, and participating teams from around the world discovered IoT application service ideas using the Mobius 3.0 platform and developed actual services.
At an awards ceremony held at the Pangyo Enterprise Support Hub on the 28th, KETI presented the first prize (Minister of Science and ICT Award), the second prize (President of the Electronics Technology Institute Award, ETSI Award), and the Best Achievement Awards in five categories as third prizes.
The first prize, the Minister of Science and ICT Award, was awarded to the Blossom team from Sejong University. The Blossom team's service, a fire situation monitoring system utilizing digital twins and unmanned vehicles, received a high evaluation in recognition of its excellence in utilizing the oneM2M standard and the completeness of its service development.
The KETI President's Award, the second prize, was awarded to the MIO:AID team from UAS Technikum Wien in Austria, who developed an air quality monitoring and control system using Node-RED (IBM's development tool) and provided detailed project documentation for oneM2M beginners.
In addition, the ETSI Award went to the Spectacle team from Sejong University, which developed a smart school bus service utilizing various IoT sensors to prevent school bus-related accidents.
In addition, the teams from Korea, the United States, and India had the honor of being selected for the Best Achievement Awards, the third prize.
KETI President Shin Hee-dong stated, “At the international competition marking its 6th edition this year, participants from around the world showcased various application services, such as smart cities and smart homes, through the convergence of IoT with new technologies like robots and digital twins,” adding, “We will strive to actively foster the global IoT platform Mobius to introduce numerous innovative IoT services to domestic and international industries.”
