Samsung contributed to supporting the socially vulnerable again this year by donating 50 billion won in charitable funds to the Community Chest of Korea to mark the end of the year.

On the 1st, Samsung held a year-end charity donation ceremony at the Community Chest of Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, attended by Chairman Cho Heung-sik, President Choi Young-moo, Samsung Social Contribution Division, and Samsung Electronics employee representatives Choi Jang-won and Hwang Jun.

Samsung has been continuously donating year-end charity funds to the Community Chest of Korea for 24 years since 1999 to help vulnerable groups.

The total amount of donations accumulated up to this year amounts to 770 billion won.

Samsung has been delivering 10 billion won each from 1999 to 2003, 20 billion won each from 2004 to 2010, 30 billion won in 2011, and 50 billion won each year starting from 2012.

This year's year-end charity fundraising campaign was participated in by 23 affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, Samsung Card, Samsung Securities, Samsung C&T, Samsung Engineering, Cheil Worldwide, and S1. Each company went through the approval process for external donation contributions.

In addition, following last year, the donation included contributions voluntarily raised by tens of thousands of employees from 23 affiliates, in addition to the company's funds. The funds delivered by Samsung are scheduled to be used for supporting youth education and the socially vulnerable.

Cho Heung-sik, Chairman of the Community Chest of Korea, stated, “We are facing a colder winter than ever before due to the uncertain economic situation and COVID-19,” adding, “We will utilize the valuable donation from Samsung for support projects for the neighbors in our society who are most in need.”

Choi Young-moo, President of Samsung’s Corporate Social Responsibility, said, “I hope Samsung’s year-end charity donations will bring hope and courage to those in need in our society,” adding, “Samsung will continue to strive to contribute to our society together with its employees.”
