A field-tailored human resource development institution led by the semiconductor industry has officially launched.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held the launch ceremony for the 'Korea Semiconductor Academy', a specialized training institution for customized human resource development required in the semiconductor field, at the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association in Pangyo on the 1st.

The launching ceremony that day also included an appointment ceremony for former SK Hynix President Lee Seok-hee, who was elected as the first director of the academy, and a signing ceremony for an agreement to support the operation of the academy among Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Wonik IPS, Silicon Mitus, Chung-Ang University, Myongji University, and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology.

The academy is an institution that trains practical, on-site personnel needed by the industry while supplementing the time constraints of university-based training that takes more than four years. Starting in April 2023, it plans to operate a total of 26 educational programs in fields such as design, equipment, parts, and packaging at the 2nd Pangyo Global Biz Center.

It is expected that this will produce more than 3,600 field-specific personnel over the next five years.

Additionally, according to the MOU signed that day, the company will provide comprehensive support for educational programs, instructors, and practical equipment environments to enable the company to operate customized training courses based on industry needs.

In particular, the basic semiconductor training utilizing the in-house training courses of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix is expected to provide an opportunity for job seekers and employees of semiconductor small and medium-sized companies to increase their understanding of the semiconductor industry as a whole. />
In addition, the academy plans to open a credit-linked course for college students and job seekers, and provide benefits such as granting short-term professional degrees to those who complete the course.

Additionally, we plan to collaborate with 30 universities nationwide that operate semiconductor major tracks to open courses that include internships to improve students' field skills.

The academy offers courses tailored to industry needs and supports graduates in finding employment at semiconductor sub-unit managers, design companies, and other companies.

President Lee Seok-hee, who was elected as the first president, stated, “In order for the Academy to serve as a control tower for industry-led human resource development for the semiconductor super gap, we will establish a system to cultivate specialized human resources in the semiconductor industry by establishing four major directions centered on solidarity, cooperation, exchange, and ecosystem.”
