AMD has partnered with Viettel to implement a next-generation 5G system that serves more than 130 million mobile customers worldwide.

AMD and Viettel High Tech (a Viettel Group affiliate) announced that they have successfully completed the field test deployment of Viettel's 5G mobile network based on AMD Xilinx's Zynq™ UltraScale+™ MPSoC devices.

Viettel Hi-Tech, Vietnam's largest telecommunications company serving over 130 million mobile customers, has utilized various AMD wireless technologies to date, including the construction of its existing 4G network, and is now accelerating the construction of a new network based on new 5G remote radio heads.

Viettel's 5G mobile network, designed to meet the capacity and performance requirements of growing mobile users worldwide, is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.

AMD is the exclusive supplier of silicon for Radio Units that supports Viettel's proprietary 5G wireless development.

Following the successful completion of the first field test, the Zynq MPSoC is scheduled to scale to 300 additional Macro 8T8R base stations and 900 5G 8T8R Macro radios..

In addition, the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC has also been adopted in Viettel's first-generation 64T64R Massive MIMO wireless equipment, which is currently being optimized for field testing.

In addition, Viettel is developing next-generation wireless equipment incorporating Zynq UltraScale+ RFSoC devices to provide industry-leading integration and high performance.
