As ESG management becomes a crucial factor in stock prices and attracting investment, companies receiving high ESG ratings are emerging even in the carbon-intensive electronics and semiconductor industries, signaling a leading shift toward environmental, social, and governance structures.

ON Semi, a leader in intelligent power and sensing technology, announced on the 5th that it was ranked 52nd on the 4th annual 2022 Top 100 ESG Companies list selected by Investor's Business Daily (IBD). This marks the second consecutive year ON Semi has been named to the list.

ON Semi emphasized that since the IBD’s announcement of the top 100 ESG companies, it has achieved sustainable production profits and demonstrated steps that enable deep decarbonization across carbon-intensive industries. Through this, Onsemi achieved its goals, including a decrease in annual water intake volume and an increase in female executives compared to the previous year.

ON Semi also disclosed detailed information on its net-zero goals and strategies, which include exploring investments in renewable and clean energy, installing mitigation technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in semiconductor manufacturing processes, and engaging suppliers to reduce the carbon impact of the supply chain.

Kim Luu, Senior Director of Sustainability and ESG at ON Semi, stated, “Being named an ESG company means providing innovative product technologies that help customers achieve their carbon emission reduction goals,” adding, “This demonstrates that we have the capability to ensure our business operations align with net-zero goals by 2040.”

In addition, ON Semi has been added to the IBD 50, a list highlighting today's best growth stocks, and the IBD Technology Leaders list. Furthermore, regarding ESG-related indices, ON Semi has been selected for the Dow Jones North America Sustainability Index for four consecutive years and constitutes other ESG-related indices such as the STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index, JUST US Large Cap Diversified Index, NASDAQ Clean Edge Green Energy Index, and NASDAQ OMX Energy Management.

Meanwhile, IBD compiles a list through a detailed process of collecting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information from all U.S. listed companies with a stock price of $10 or more, and combines this with IBD stock rankings to select the companies included in the list as "companies excellent for ESG investment."

Texas Instruments (TI), Apple, and semiconductor materials company Merck were named among the top 10 electronics industry companies.
