STMicroelectronics (ST), a global semiconductor company supporting various electronic applications and customers, is launching a controller with enhanced digital power capabilities to support overload stabilization and regulation.

ST announced on the 4th that it has released the STNRG011A, a controller for 90W to 300W power supplies with digital power capabilities.

This controller supports enhanced overload management, ensuring accurate output voltage regulation when overcurrent protection is activated.

STNRG011A integrates a Power-Factor Correction (PFC) controller, an LLC resonant half-bridge controller, an 800V starting circuit, and a monitoring engine, and is used in power supplies such as power adapters, chargers, TVs, and lighting.

Multimode PFC controllers implement various functions to improve performance, such as input voltage feedforward, distortion optimization, and frequency limiting.

The digital monitoring engine is equipped with an 8-bit core, dedicated peripherals, and digital algorithms stored in internal ROM to ensure stability and minimize the Bill of Materials (BoM).

Unlike the existing STNRG011, STNRG011A has a new overload management algorithm that increases the switching frequency when the overcurrent protection function is triggered.

Through this It maintains output voltage regulation and prevents unwanted shutdown of the power supply.

As an additional feature, it has built-in non-volatile memory that stores configuration parameters and calibration data, allowing it to store external components and customize the device to meet the requirements of specific applications.

It is also equipped with a 2-pin UART port for monitoring and communication, simplifying testing and enabling real-time monitoring and remote management.

In addition, it features an IEC 62368-1 compliant X-capacitor discharge circuit to help minimize standby power, as well as built-in PFC and half-bridge protection functions.

STNRG011A is currently being produced in SO20 packages, and the price is $2.08 for a purchase of 1,000 units.
