Twinwiz Co., Ltd., a research institute specializing in antibacterial/antiviral additives, has secured KRW 2.2 billion in cumulative investment in less than a year since its establishment, earning recognition for its future value.

Twinwiz Co., Ltd., a research institute company of the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Lee Jeong-hwan), a government-funded research institute under the Ministry of Science and ICT, has attracted KRW 2 billion in pre-Series A investment less than a year after its founding amidst a harsh investment climate.

Pre-Series A investment falls between "seed investment," which is received when a startup idea is being prototyped, and "Series A investment," which occurs just before full-scale market penetration. This round involved participation from the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, Bluepoint, Gyeongnam Venture Investment, and Busan United Technology Holdings.

Twinwiz Co., Ltd. specializes in functional liquid antibacterial/antiviral additives. The company has successfully developed and commercialized a liquid antibacterial/antiviral additive that generates high levels of metal ions. By adding small amounts of this additive to various resins, fibers, inks, paints, and coatings such as plastics and films, it is possible to impart antibacterial/antiviral functions without changing the appearance or properties of existing products.

Twinwiz CEO Kim Chang-soo said, “With this investment, we plan to focus on full-scale business expansion, including scale-up and advanced mass production,” and expressed his aspirations, saying, “In preparation for the post-COVID-19 era, when people’s interest in personal hygiene is increasing, we will do our best to become a startup that contributes to solving the problem of new infectious diseases.”

Meanwhile, Twinwiz Co., Ltd., founded in March 2022, was selected for TIPS, a technology startup support program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and recently won the Grand Prize at the Gyeongnam Startup IR (Investor Relations) On-site Competition (Minister of SMEs and Startups Award), the Grand Prize at the Gyeongnam Startup IR Competition (Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Award), and the Encouragement Award at the Southeast Megacity Startup Competition (Ulsan SMEs and Startups Administration Director Award).
