“We will strengthen communication to make the powder industry a hub.”


Yoo Ji-hoon, Head of the Powder Materials Research Division at the Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS, President Lee Jeong-hwan), has been inaugurated as the 25th President of the Korean Society of Powder Materials.

Founded in 1993, the Korean Society of Powder Materials plays an important role in leading global powder technology, centered on over 2,200 members and 83 member companies in the field, through a solid academic foundation and strong ties with the industry.

In his inaugural address, newly appointed President Yoo Ji-hoon stated, “At a time when we must envision another 30 years alongside the past 30 years of the Society, it is a time when great interest and effort are needed to complete the five major tasks for the Society’s development.” He added, “I will do my utmost to strive for the development of the Society by deliberating and communicating with the new executive team so that the results of the Society’s past efforts can gradually become visible.”

Dr. Yoo Ji-hoon obtained his bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in metallurgical engineering from Hanyang University and has been working at the Korea Institute of Materials Science since 2003. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Metal Powder Council (N-Team) under the Ministry of Science and ICT, an advisor to the Strategic Materials Technology Advisory Group under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and a specialist on the Technology Level Assessment (3D printing equipment and materials technology) under the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Dr. Yoo Ji-hoon's term of office is one year, starting from January 1.
