SK Specialty has received certification from a state-accredited institution for the high safety standards regarding the design, construction, operation, and management of its Yeongju site.

SK Specialty (CEO Lee Kyu-won) announced on the 12th that it has obtained the 'Space Safety Certification,' an official certification regarding the safety of the company's systems and process facilities, from the Korea Safety Certification Institute.

'Space Safety Certification' is the only domestic voluntary corporate safety evaluation system organized by the Korea Safety Certification Institute and supervised by the Fire Department.

Top experts in each field, including disaster prevention and safety, building structure, firefighting equipment, and disaster prevention, participate to evaluate the safety level of the workplace by conducting a multi-faceted evaluation of 143 items across four categories: safety management/building disaster prevention, fire safety/hazardous materials safety/equipment safety, equipment performance testing, and new technology and equipment improvement.

SK Specialty began the evaluation process in the first half of last year and successfully obtained certification after receiving a favorable evaluation following a process that included on-site inspections, review of improvement plans, and performance measurement over a period of about six months, thereby verifying its safety management capabilities as an advanced materials workplace.

Key officials, including SK Specialty Production Division Head Kwak Ki-seop, Korea Safety Certification Institute Chairman Park Seung-min, and Yeongju Fire Station Chief Lee In-jung, attended the certification award ceremony held at the SK Specialty Yeongju headquarters on this day.

Meanwhile, SK Specialty received the highest grade, 'Grade P,' in the Process Safety Management implementation status evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor last year, and invests more than 3% of its annual revenue in the SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) sector to establish safety as a core corporate culture.
