Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S23 series has been unveiled.

Samsung Electronics announced that it held 'Galaxy Unpacked 2023: Share the Epic' at the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco, USA on the 1st (local time) and unveiled the 'Galaxy S23 series'. It will be released worldwide, including in Korea, starting on the 17th, and pre-orders in Korea will be held from February 7th to the 13th.

This series was released in three models: S23 Ultra, S23+, and S23.

In addition to the existing four colors of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, four additional colors—graphite, sky blue, red, and lime—will be released and sold exclusively on Samsung.com. The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will be released in two additional colors—graphite and lime—exclusively on Samsung.com. In addition, the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 have adopted a design that eliminates the contour-cut camera housing that used to surround the lens.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, available in Korea, comes with 12GB of RAM as standard and 256GB or 512GB of storage. They are priced at 1,599,400 won and 1,724,000 won, respectively. The 1 terabyte (TB) storage model is sold exclusively on Samsung.com and costs 1,962,400 won.

The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB and 512GB of storage, respectively. The Galaxy S23 is priced at 1,155,000 won and 1,276,000 won for the 256GB and 512GB models, respectively, while the Galaxy S23+ is priced at 1,353,000 won and 1,474,000 won for the 256GB and 512GB models, respectively.

The S22 Ultra was released at 1,452,000 won for 256GB, 1,551,000 won for 512GB, and the S21 Ultra was released at 1,254,000 won.
Samsung Electronics said that the Galaxy S23 series has upgraded camera performance in both hardware and software.

The S23 Ultra features a 200-megapixel camera with an f/1.7 aperture and a 6.8-inch Quad HD 120Hz edge display. The S23+ and S23 feature a 50-megapixel camera and 6.6-inch and 6.1-inch FHD+ 120Hz flat displays, respectively. Notably, Adaptive Pixel can automatically switch between 200 and 120-megapixel resolution depending on the brightness of the shooting environment. The OIS angle for hand shake correction has been doubled, and 8K video supports 30 frames per second.

All models in the series are equipped with a selfie camera that supports 12-megapixel Dual Pixel to improve nighttime shooting performance, and the front camera uses an AI object recognition engine to distinguish the hair, eyebrows, and skin of a person in detail.

Additionally, 'Nightography', which combines camera sensors and AI, allows for camera shooting regardless of day or night, and is optimized for portrait photography with AI technology.

Samsung Electronics announced that it will reduce noise in low-light shooting, and that the video recording function will support Super HDR up to 60 frames per second for wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and selfie cameras, up from the previous 30 frames per second. While the Expert RAW app previously supported resolutions of up to 12 million pixels, the Galaxy S23 series will support up to 50 million pixels.

The mobile AP, Qualcomm's "Snapdragon® 8 for Galaxy 2nd Generation," has been optimized for the Galaxy S23 series. The GPU has been improved by 41% compared to its predecessor, and a larger vapor chamber has been added. NPU performance has also been improved by over 40%.

The battery capacity of the Ultra is 5,000mAh, and the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 have increased by 200mAh each compared to their predecessors, with batteries of 4,700mAh and 3,900mAh respectively. Charging speed: The Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S23+ can be charged up to 65% in 30 minutes with a 45W charger.

The display features an upgraded Vision Booster feature that adjusts the color and contrast of the display in three brightness levels per pixel depending on the ambient lighting conditions.

The Galaxy S23 series also features enhanced security and privacy through Samsung Knox. The chipset security platform, Samsung Knox Vault, safely stores users' personal information in a separate physical location.

The Galaxy S23 series is an eco-friendly Galaxy smartphone, with the S23 Ultra model using a total of 12 recycled materials (11 for the S23+ and S23).

Last year's Galaxy S22 released a total of six internal components used recycled plastic. In particular, a plastic material recycled from discarded fishing nets was developed and applied to the Galaxy S22 series. In addition to the recycled plastic from discarded fishing nets and discarded water bottles used in the previous model, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has newly developed and additionally applied plastic recycled from discarded PET bottles, aluminum recycled from byproducts generated during the process, and glass recycled from discarded glass generated during the process.
