Discussion on ways to create a hydrogen economy ecosystem
Exploring policy tasks to support and foster hydrogen-specialized companies

The National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum will host a policy discussion session hosted by the Hydrogen Convergence Alliance to discuss ways to revitalize the hydrogen economy.

The National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum announced that it will hold a discussion on ‘Policy Tasks for Korea to Leap Forward to a Global Hydrogen Economy Advanced Country’ at 10:00 AM on the 16th in the 3rd seminar room of the National Assembly Members’ Hall.

This forum will discuss policy challenges for transitioning to a clean hydrogen economy and supporting and fostering hydrogen-focused companies, amidst the growing emphasis on the hydrogen economy's role in responding to climate change and strengthening international energy security.

Following a presentation on 'Global Energy Trends and Current Status of the Hydrogen Economy' by Lee Yu-su, Director of the Energy Carbon Neutrality Research Center at the Korea Energy Economics Institute, a panel discussion on 'Measures to Create a Hydrogen Economy Ecosystem' will be held, moderated by Professor Park Sang-wook of Seoul National University.

The panel discussion will be attended by Yoon Young-doo, Vice President of SK E&S, Son Byeong-soo, Managing Director of POSCO Holdings, Park Cheol-mo, President of Korea Gas Corporation, Yoo Byeong-yong, Managing Director of Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, Choi Seo-ho, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor Company, and Son Soon-geun, Managing Director of Hyosung Heavy Industries.

Rep. Lee Jong-bae said, “Starting with the revision of the National Assembly’s Hydrogen Act last year, our country is also pursuing various hydrogen policies in line with advanced countries around the world,” and added, “We will not spare support so that the Republic of Korea can stand tall as a hydrogen-advanced country in the global society.”all.

In addition, Rep. Jeon Hae-cheol said, “We must more closely prepare for the creation of an ecosystem that spans the entire cycle of hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization,” and added, “Through this discussion, we will lay the foundation for Korea to grow into a central country in the global hydrogen market.”

Meanwhile, the National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum plans to develop policy and legislative tasks, including enacting a hydrogen business law, institutional improvements for advancing toward a hydrogen economy, and expanding hydrogen diplomacy, based on the ideas presented at this forum.
