SK Specialty (President Lee Kyu-won), an eco-friendly Specialty Gas & Chemical technology company, has received external recognition for its achievements in climate change response and water resource management.

SK Specialty won the Water Management Excellence Award at the 'CDP Korea Climate Change Response and Water Management Excellence Awards Ceremony' hosted by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Korea Committee on the 10th.

CDP is a global non-profit organization that annually evaluates the climate change response strategies and efforts of major companies worldwide and provides this information to investors and financial institutions.

It was established in 2003 and has been conducting annual evaluations of major companies on 'climate change response' and 'water management' since 2008. As the importance of climate change is highlighted day by day, the number of investment institutions and participating companies is on the rise, and currently, more than 18,700 companies worldwide are participating.

CDP evaluates companies based on their level of response in four grades, ranging from Disclosure to Awareness, Management, and Leadership. SK Specialty received a Leadership (A-) grade in both the 'Water Management' and 'Climate Change Response' categories, and furthermore, achieved the result of winning an Excellence Award in 'Water Management'.

SK Specialty received high marks in the 'Water Management' category of the CDP evaluation for wastewater recycling, water risk management, and water-related business strategies, and was recognized for its performance in efficient water resource management at its business sites.

In particular, SK Specialty has set a goal of achieving 100% wastewater recycling by 2030 and plans to leap forward as a global top-tier water resource management company by introducing recycling systems and technologies optimized for the characteristics of the discharged wastewater.

In the 'Climate Change Response' sector, SK Specialty declared its goal of achieving net-zero by 2030, 20 years ahead of the global carbon neutrality target of 2050, and its various activities to achieve this were well evaluated.

In particular, SK Specialty announced in 2020 that it would join RE100 for the first time in Korea together with six member companies of the SK Group, and in January 2022, it became the first in the industrial gas industry to simultaneously obtain Carbon Trust 'measurement' and 'reduction' certifications for its tungsten hexafluoride (WF6) from The Carbon Trust, a non-profit organization in the UK.

In addition, in 2022, the largest domestic renewable energy PPA (Po) with a scale of 50 megawatts (MW)It is taking the lead in carbon neutrality through various activities, such as signing power purchase agreements.

SK Materials plans to expand its participation in CDP to other subsidiaries, such as SK Materials Air Plus, SK Trichem, and SK Materials Performance, based on the performance and know-how of its subsidiary, SK Specialty.
