ON Semi supports the extension of electric vehicle driving range by equipping BMW's future electric vehicle drivetrains with ON Semi Elite silicon carbide (SiC) dies.

ON Semi, a leader in intelligent power and sensing technology, announced on the 7th that it has signed a long-term supply agreement (LTSA) with BMW AG.

Under this contract, ON Semi’s Elite Silicon Carbide (hereinafter EliteSiC) technology will be utilized in electric drivetrains for 400V DC buses of a German premium automobile manufacturer.

ON Semi's latest EliteSiC 750 V M3 die is used in full-bridge power modules that provide hundreds of kilowatts (kW) of power.

Through strategic collaboration between the two companies in the development and integration of electric drivetrains, ON Semi can provide differentiated application-specific die solutions, including optimized size and layout, high performance, and reliability.

Enhanced electrical and mechanical characteristics support high efficiency and reduce overall losses, demonstrating the highest system-level performance.
