ST NanoEdge AI Studio Creates Models Without AI Knowledge
ST's graphics solutions can be applied to industrial products such as 3D robot arms.

STMicroelectronics (hereinafter referred to as ST) participated in Automation World 2023 and showcased its AI and graphics solutions.

At Automation World 2023, held at COEX in Seoul from the 8th to the 10th, ST displayed demos combining STM32 MCUs and AI solutions, as well as graphic solution demos, showing that ST's products can be utilized in the industrial field.

Amidst the remarkable advancement of the AI semiconductor market, ST confidently showcased its AI solutions at this exhibition, highlighting its commitment to leading the market as a global semiconductor company.

Hyunsoo Moon, a manager in charge of MCU technology support and AI solution technology support at ST Korea, introduced a demo combining STM32 MCUs and AI solutions.

ST's NanoEdge AI Studio is a tool that allows existing STM32 MCU developers to create AI models without AI knowledge or resources, allowing them to easily perform AI processing by simply entering a dataset.

This demo demonstrates AI processing at the MCU edge without a cloud or server connection, demonstrating the normal and abnormal operation of a motor using an AI model.

“ST plans to continue applying AI solutions to the industrial market,” said Manager Moon. “We will provide technical support and updates so that AI can be applied to all products.”

Alexandre Renoux (hereinafter referred to as Alexander), ST's deputy manager in charge of the Asia Pacific graphics business, introduced the graphics solution.

The ST graphics solution demo exhibited this time consists of an MCU that supports RTOS (Real Time Operating System) and an MPU that supports Linux.

ST's latest MCU, the STM32U599, and GPU enable smooth scaling, rotation, and texture mapping, and users can create their own GUIs and download them directly to the board using the free GUI solution, TouchGFX.

ST focuses its graphics solutions on industrial as well as consumer electronics, and its MPUs We are focusing on the industrial field, such as applying it to industrial products such as 3D robot arms.

For MCUs, depending on the GUI requirements, they can handle a wide range of display resolutions with various display interfaces and can also improve the animation complexity.

“I had a meaningful time at this exhibition where I was able to learn about the types of UI that consumers demand in the industrial field,” said Alexander. “It was a beneficial event that allowed me to realize that ST’s products can satisfy the needs of consumers in the industrial field.”
