Lenovo Targets Domestic Edge Market

Recently, edge computing has been gaining attention for efficiently processing explosively increasing data at the point of origin or on user terminals. With a survey showing that 87% of domestic companies are currently using or considering adopting it, Lenovo has shared insights for leading the edge market.
Lenovo held the 'Lenovo Smarter Edge Computing Solution Seminar' at Andaz Seoul Gangnam on the 16th to take a full leap forward as a leader in the edge market.
The seminar, hosted by Lenovo and sponsored by Intel, was attended by approximately 50 domestic and international ISV partners and Lenovo employees. The event featured presentations on the current status of edge computing technology, the latest insights, and Lenovo's edge-to-cloud solutions, as well as a demonstration of Lenovo ThinkEdge products.
Lenovo identified 'edge innovation' as a key keyword for digital transformation in 2023. Edge computing is a technology that processes today's exponentially increasing data more efficiently at the point of data generation or on the user's device. Edge computing is being actively used in numerous industries, including retail, automotive, finance, and healthcare.
According to a recent IDC survey, 87% of domestic companies are already using edge computing for business operations or plan to adopt it within the next 12 months.
The seminar, which began with opening remarks by Richard Jenkins, General Manager of Edge Servers for Lenovo Asia Pacific, was conducted in two main parts.
In the first part, Lenovo executives including Richard Jenkins, Head of Edge Servers Asia Pacific, and Srinivas Krishnappa, Head of ThinkEdge Asia Pacific, presented the Lenovo Edge to Cloud solution and success stories of Lenovo Edge Computing.
In the second part, presentations continued on topics such as Edge to IoT Platform as a Service, the current status and examples of AI-based edge computing technology, and support programs for ISV partners. Through this seminar, attendees had the opportunity to gain an overall overview of edge computing technology and the market, as well as explore technical strategies and response measures for it.
In addition, demos of Lenovo ThinkEdge's portfolio, including 'ThinkEdge SE10', 'ThinkEdge SE30', 'ThinkEdge SE50', 'ThinkEdge SE350 Edge Server', and 'ThinkEdge SE450 Edge Server', were also conducted simultaneously.
Lenovo ThinkEdge provides flexibility, enhanced resilience, and data management performance, and the ThinkSystem SE350 Edge Server, which is implemented in both the cloud and the edge, is characterized by supporting a resilient edge computing environment.
Shin Gyu-sik, CEO of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) Korea, said, “I am pleased to deliver the latest insights and response strategies regarding edge computing, which is receiving significant attention in the market, to our domestic and international ISV partners, and to share Lenovo’s key solutions and achievements. As cases of business growth and innovation through the adoption of edge technology are gradually increasing, Lenovo will lead the domestic edge market by expanding the end-to-end ThinkEdge portfolio, launching Lenovo Open Cloud Automation 2.6 software that enables automated edge deployment, and increasing related R&D investment.”

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
