PN7642 provides fast and secure NFC transactions

NXP Semiconductors delivers faster secure NFC authentication by combining a full NFC reader, custom Arm Cortex-M33 MCU, and a complete security toolbox in a single-chip secure connected MCU solution.

NXP Semiconductors today announced the PN7642, a single-chip solution integrating a custom MCU, NFC reader, and SESIP Level 2 security.

The PN7642 provides faster secure NFC transactions for physical access solutions, consumable authentication, secure identity verification, and other NFC use cases.

NFC has become the technology that underlies security authentication. It is actually used to verify that the person standing in front of the front door is authorized by the homeowner, or to verify that the consumables inserted into a medical device are approved for use in that device.

“NFC has become essential for the secure authentication of both people and products,” said Alasdair Ross, senior director of NFC IoT Security at NXP. “The PN7642 combines a custom MCU with an NFC Forum certified NFC solution and a complete security toolbox to enable easy integration of NFC technology into new or existing secure authentication solutions.”

The PN7642 contains a high-performance NFC Forum certified NFC reader with 2W output power. The integrated custom Arm Cortex-M33 MCU includes 180kB flash, 20kB RAM, a comprehensive set of controllers and host interfaces. It includes SESIP Level 2 certification, a full security toolbox, cryptographic accelerators and secure key storage, all supported by software.
