As the adoption of multi-cloud by domestic companies accelerates, VMware has announced its ambition to actively address technical solutions for cost, security, and effective multi-cloud operations.

VMware (CEO Raghu Raghuram), a global leader in enterprise software, held VMware Explore Korea on the 6th. Approximately 3,000 cloud industry professionals registered for this event to check the latest multi-cloud trends and network.

In addition, at a press conference held as part of the event, Jeon In-ho, Country Manager of VMware Korea; Paul Symos, Vice President of VMware Southeast Asia and Korea; and Santoso Suwignyo, Technical Director of VMware Southeast Asia and Korea, presented updates on the Korean business, VMware innovations, business trends in the Asia-Pacific region, and future prospects.

According to a global multi-cloud status survey commissioned by VMware to the research firm Vanson Bourne, Korean companies are expected to own an average of 3.78 public clouds by 2027.

This figure is nearly double the pre-pandemic average of 1.87 and exceeds the global average of 2.93 and the Asia-Pacific average of 3.18.

It is analyzed that the adoption of multi-cloud has accelerated as companies worldwide, including those in Korea, have gained confidence in it as they pursued digital transformation to meet the demand for remote work due to the pandemic.

In particular, 70% of most domestic companies are already using multi-cloud, indicating a level of full immersion in multi-cloud operating environments compared to the global average of 64%. Furthermore, the majority (80%) were found to have built applications capable of running on multiple public clouds.

On the other hand, conversely, only 37% of domestic companies answered that they had fully established a multi-cloud strategy, a figure similar to the Asia-Pacific average of 38%. A company's failure to establish an appropriate strategy means a lack of the visibility and control necessary to effectively manage complexity, security, and cost issues, and to meet expectations for better digital experiences.

Previously, according to the 'Digital Smart: Advancing digital government for citizens in the Asia-Pacific' survey commissioned by VMware to Deloitte in 2022, 74% of Korean respondents agreed to invest more in technology to prepare for an uncertain future.

In addition, 64% of Korean respondents, more than half, said they expect more digital experiences, which is higher than the global average of 52%.
