Samsung Electronics is disclosing 272 patents and moving forward with free technology transfer.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Lee Chang-yang) will be accepting applications from companies wishing to participate in the '2023 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing' from April 11 to May 12.

The technology sharing project is a program that transfers unused technologies held by large corporations and public institutions to small and medium-sized enterprises free of charge to strengthen their technological competitiveness and support innovative growth.

Samsung Electronics will disclose 272 patents in eight technology fields, including mobile devices, semiconductor components, displays, and medical devices, during this year's technology sharing event.

Samsung Electronics, which has been participating in technology sharing since 2015, has actively participated in building an ecosystem where large and small businesses can grow together by transferring 959 patents free of charge to 502 companies as of last year.

In fact, Belle Co., Ltd., which received audio signal processing technology from Samsung Electronics in 2020, is considered an excellent example of Samsung Electronics' technology sharing. Belle Co., Ltd. developed a Bluetooth table speaker that combines furniture and speakers based on Samsung Electronics' technology and has entered overseas markets. It is recording growth, with sales increasing by 50% and employment increasing by 80% in 2022 compared to 2020.

Through the technology sharing project that began in 2013, 33 large corporations and public corporations have participated as technology providers as of last year, and a total of 2,979 technologies have been transferred to 1,416 companies.

Small and medium-sized enterprises wishing to receive technology sharing this time can apply by email by May 12th according to the business announcement posted on the websites of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (www.motie.go.kr) and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (www.kiat.or.kr). If the company is confirmed as the recipient of technology transfer after a review committee meeting, the patent rights can be transferred free of charge.
