Universal Robots, the world's leading collaborative robot company, has designated Asan Smart Factory Meister High School as Korea's first Universal Robots certified training center, giving a green light to nurturing domestic collaborative robot experts.

Universal Robots announced on the 2nd that Asan Smart Factory Meister High School was designated as a Universal Robots certified training center and held a plaque ceremony.

As a result, Asan Smart Factory Meister High School has become the first in Korea to become a certified training center for Universal Robots, which has over 100 training centers worldwide.

Through this collaboration, Asan Smart Factory Meister High School students will be able to strengthen their capabilities as field-oriented collaborative robot experts through official certification training from Universal Robots, the industry leader with over 50% global market share.

In this era of "robot everyday life," where the paradigm is shifting from hardware development to robotics and AI convergence, Universal Robots Korea aims to promote the potential and scope of collaborative robots and take the lead in systematizing domestic collaborative robot education.

Asan Smart Factory Meister High School has been training experts in the field of intelligent factories since its opening in March 2022.

In September of last year, we signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement with Universal Robots Korea to foster skilled professional technicians and support employment.We are providing opportunities for on-site practical training courses at industrial complexes, training for teachers on new technologies, and experiential learning opportunities for students at industrial complexes.

Universal Robots currently operates over 100 certified training centers worldwide, producing certified collaborative robot experts.

According to Universal Robots officials, to be designated as an authorized certification center, a company must have the appropriate facilities and equipment to conduct collaborative robot training in compliance with the guidelines set forth by Universal Robots.

Upon completion of the Universal Robots collaborative robot training program, you will receive a globally recognized UR certification.

Universal Robots CEO Lee Nae-hyung said, “While the demand for collaborative robots that satisfy automation, smart factories, and robot-AI convergence is increasing, there is a lack of education suitable for the use of collaborative robots. Therefore, the designation of Asan Smart Factory Meister High School as an authorized training center will be a meaningful first step toward fostering specialized technical talent in the robotics industry in Korea.” He emphasized, “Universal Robots will continue to actively lead the way in fostering robotics experts by providing ways for all generations to easily utilize collaborative robots in the field in various ways, and we will do our best to support Korea so that it can keep pace with the global trend of ‘automation utilizing robots.’”

Asan Smart Factory Meister High School Principal Cho Dong-heon stated, “With this designation as an authorized training center, we will differentiate our collaborative robot education and strive to cultivate competent professionals who are recognized not only domestically but also internationally.”

Meanwhile, Universal Robots held an on-site meeting with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's National Institute of Standards and Technology in March to discuss the current state of the domestic collaborative robot market and the technical regulations that differ from international standards when using collaborative robots in Korea.The difficulties encountered due to this were introduced and improvement directions for the growth of the domestic collaborative robot market were suggested.
