Glenn Smith, President and CEO of Mouser Electronics™, an industry-leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor supplying the widest variety of semiconductors and electronic components, has reached his 50th anniversary of contributing to Mouser and the electronics industry.

Smith, who was a college junior in 1973, experienced many changes since working as a part-time employee at a logistics center in San Diego, USA, which was nothing more than an electronic components startup.

At the time, he was one of 12 employees, but he contributed to growing Mouser, which was a small company, into one of the top 10 component distributors today with 27 offices worldwide, serving over 650,000 customers and distributing products from over 1,200 manufacturer partners.

Today, Mouser's central hub, home to its global headquarters and distribution center, is Mansfield, Texas.

Smith attributed Mouser's success to the hard work of numerous employees.

Smith demonstrated exceptional foresight and leadership qualities at Mouser from the very beginning. While working at a distribution center, he rapidly rose to management positions in every department, including technical sales, marketing, purchasing, operations, and information technology. In 1985, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and General Manager of General Operations.

In 1986, Smith played a key role in relocating Mouser's headquarters to Mansfield, near DFW International Airport, to expand the company's distribution capabilities, and was appointed president two years later. In 2000, Fort Worth-based TTI, Inc. acquired Mouser, and in 2004, Smith was promoted to the position of President and CEO of what is now Mouser. Mouser and TTI were acquired by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, Inc. in 2007.

Over the past few years, Mouser and Smith have received numerous industry and local awards. Smith received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award from the ECIA (Electronic Components Industry Association) for his dedication to the electronic components industry and his service on the board. In 2012, Mouser received the Employer of Excellence Award from Tarrant County in recognition of his significant impact on the economy and community of Northern Texas. In 2019, he was named Top Public CEO by the Fort Worth Business Press. Mouser has also won the Large Business of the Year Award in 2014 and the Best Places to Work Award in 2021.
