Leading the electrification ecosystem from cell to battery system to finished vehicle
Two types of battery systems, one equipped with large-capacity cells and the other with long-range and standard versions, are planned for production.

Hyundai Mobis is building a battery system factory in Indonesia that will serve as a global electrification hub targeting the ASEAN market.

Hyundai Mobis announced on the 31st (local time) that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for a battery system factory at a factory site located on the outskirts of the capital city of Jakarta.

The Indonesian factory has a total value of 60 million dollars (approximately 80 billion won) and covers an area of 33,000 square meters.

Hyundai Mobis plans to use Indonesia, which is emerging as a hub in the ASEAN market, as a bridgehead to lead one axis of the electrification ecosystem that connects cells, battery systems, and finished vehicles.

The company plans to supply battery systems primarily for Southeast Asia's flagship electric vehicle models to be launched next year, and will produce both long-range and standard battery systems equipped with large-capacity cells.

The Indonesian battery system plant is expected to become Hyundai Mobis' global electrification hub targeting the ASEAN market.

Electric vehicle purchasing power is also rapidly increasing in the ASEAN region, particularly in Indonesia, and the local government is accelerating its efforts to secure leadership in the electric vehicle market, leveraging its abundant natural resources.

Hyundai Mobis Indonesia's plant is located in the Deltamas Industrial Complex, approximately 60km southeast of the capital city of Jakarta.

It is located 3km from Hyundai Motor Company's Indonesian plant and 10km from HLI Green Power, a battery cell joint venture, maximizing the operational efficiency required for battery system supply.

Hyundai Mobis plans to receive battery cells from its battery cell joint venture (HLI Green Power), modularize controllers and thermal management devices, and supply them to finished vehicles in the form of large battery systems. In line with the growth of the ASEAN market, the company plans to expand and foster its Indonesian plant into a mid- to long-term strategic base that can also serve global customers.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Mobis is currently producing electric vehicle parts, including battery systems, in Korea and Europe (Czech Republic/Slovakia).

Last October, the company announced a plan to invest a total of $1.3 billion by 2030 to expand its North American electrification production base, and is currently building five additional electrification component factories in Alabama and Georgia.
