Samsung Electronics Transfers 123 Patents Freely to 86 Companies

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Lee Chang-yang) held the '2023 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-Samsung Electronics Technology Sharing Event' on the 11th at the Adonis Hall of Samjeong Hotel with the participation of Hwang Su-seong, Director of the Industrial Infrastructure Division, Samsung Electronics Vice President Kim Yu-seok, Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology President Min Byeong-ju, and representatives of approximately 50 technology sharing beneficiary companies.
Samsung Electronics, which has been participating in technology sharing since 2015, has so far transferred 1,082 patents to 588 companies free of charge, demonstrating the best performance in both the number of patents transferred and the number of companies benefiting.
Ritvic Co., Ltd. is a company that is considered an excellent example of Samsung Electronics' technology sharing. It developed a set-top box for automobile broadcast reception using the technology it received, and has expanded its sales beyond Korea to overseas markets, generating KRW 5 billion in sales and creating 9 new jobs.
At today's event, Samsung Electronics signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, agreeing to continue participating in technology sharing to build an ecosystem for shared growth between large and small businesses.
Hwang Su-seong, head of the Industrial Infrastructure Division, said, “Samsung Electronics, a global company, will greatly contribute to securing technological competitiveness for our small and medium-sized enterprises,” and added, “We expect that the patents we will receive free of charge will help us take a leap forward in new business expansion and sales growth.”
