The strength of the IAR solution is 'performance'

IAR Systems held a webinar on July 13 via e4ds EEWebinar on the topic of 'IAR's Solutions for Embedded Software Development'.
During this webinar, e4ds news and IAR jointly conducted a survey of the attendees, and 89% of the attendees responded.
Looking at the key questions and responses, the strength of the IAR solution was found to be performance. 46% of respondents cited performance factors such as code size and build speed as advantages. Next, support for various functions was found to be 33%, while ease of use, technical support services, and price were each 6%.
Respondents cited performance as the most significant strength of the IAR solution.
The weakness of the IAR solution was identified as price by 54% of respondents, indicating that they feel burdened by the cost. This was followed by technical support services at 11% and performance at 10%, while support for various features and ease of use were each mentioned at 9%.
Regarding the key factors determining the embedded development environment, 42% of respondents selected performance as the most important factor. This was followed by support for various functions at 19% and price at 14%, indicating that stable and convenient features are prioritized over price in product development.
STMicroelectronics ranked first among primarily used MCU manufacturers with 39%. Microchip took second place with 21%, and TI took third place with 15%.
Regarding whether they would recommend the IAR solution to other acquaintances, 91% responded affirmatively, indicating that the IAR solution is gaining the trust of developers using it.
Regarding the intention to purchase IAR products, 57% indicated an intention to purchase.
Based on this survey, it was found that while developers using IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) feel burdened by the cost, they choose IDEs that help with rapid development through a comfortable development environment, security, and enhanced performance.
An IAR official stated, “IAR solutions are used in markets requiring Quality, Safety, and Security. We recommend using IAR if you have requirements for improving product quality or obtaining certifications.”
