Hanwha Systems (CEO Sung-chul Eo) will improve its production capacity by establishing production facilities for major defense equipment, export items, and new businesses, as well as defense research facilities and equipment at the level of advanced countries.

On the 26th, Hanwha Systems held a ‘Gumi New Business Site Groundbreaking Ceremony’ in Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The new Hanwha Systems Gumi plant will be built on a site measuring approximately 89,000 m2 (27,000 pyeong) located on Sanho-daero in Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and will include a manufacturing building, research building, and office building.

Hanwha Systems plans to build production facilities for major defense equipment including marine unmanned systems, ship combat systems, tactical information and communication systems (TICN), integrated battlefield systems, electro-optics, avionics, and radar, as well as export items and new business.

This investment in production facilities is intended to resolve operational risks by securing Hanwha Systems’ own business site and to increase mid- to long-term production capabilities. Hanwha Systems plans to have defense research facilities and equipment at the level of advanced countries. The new Gumi business site, which will become the next-generation core business base, is scheduled to be completed in July 2025, and is scheduled to be fully relocated from the current leased business site to the new site by the end of 2025.
