Mouser announced on the 4th that it is supplying Nordic Semiconductor's nRF7002 Wi-Fi® 6 companion IC product.

The nRF7002 Wi-Fi 6 companion IC is designed to be used with Nordic’s existing nRF52® and nRF53® series Bluetooth® Low Energy SoCs (System on Chip) and nRF9160 Cellular IoT SiPs (System in Package), as well as with a wide range of other host devices from outside Nordic.

The nRF7002 Wi-Fi 6 companion IC, available from Mouser, provides seamless Wi-Fi connectivity and Wi-Fi-based location identification (sniffing the SSID of a local Wi-Fi hub).

This ultra-low power device is ideal for a variety of applications requiring stable wireless connectivity, such as battery-powered Wi-Fi products, smart city and smart agriculture applications, smart home devices, industrial sensors, medical devices and wearables, and asset tracking applications.

The nRF7002 device utilizing Wi-Fi 6 is a Matter wireless probeIt supports Bluetooth LE for protocols and commissioning, as well as Thread for low-power mesh and Wi-Fi for high-speed wireless applications.

The nRF7002 Wi-Fi 6 companion IC is supported in the nRF7002-DK Wi-Fi 6 development kit.

The nRF7002-DK is a host device for the nRF7002 IC and also features the nRF5340 multi-protocol SoC.

With this development kit, developers can implement Wi-Fi 6 features such as beamforming, OFDMA, and TWT (Target Wake Time) in low-power Wi-Fi 6 applications.

The nRF7002-DK development kit is easily expandable thanks to its Arduino-compatible headers.
