VMware has received a security function certification from the National Intelligence Service and will provide safe security solutions to domestic public institutions.

VMware announced that its networking and security virtualization solution, 'VMware NSX,' has received a security function confirmation certificate for National Intelligence Service security suitability verification from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) of Korea.

Security conformity verification is a system to verify the safety of IT products equipped with security functions, such as information protection systems, network equipment, and quantum cryptography communication equipment, and products for complete deletion of stored data, introduced by the government and public institutions, in accordance with Article 4 of the National Intelligence Service Act and Article 56 of the Electronic Government Act, in order to improve the security level of the national information and communications network.

While governments and public institutions must apply for security compliance verification from the National Intelligence Service when introducing products subject to verification, certain designated product groups may waive security compliance verification if they have previously obtained a security function certificate. Accordingly, VMware has received reaffirmation from the Korea Information and Communications Technology Association that VMware NSX meets the security standards identified in the National Security Requirements.

VMware NSX is a software-defined network that scales across data centers, clouds, and application frameworks, and is a unified cloud networking solution that covers Layer 2 through Layer 7. VMware NSX improves networking and security for applications wherever they run—from virtual machines to containers to physical servers—and lets you provision and manage networks regardless of the underlying hardware.

VMware NSX, in particular, offers granular security that prevents the lateral spread of security threats by utilizing micro-segmented security policies at the workload level. It also reduces network provisioning times from days to seconds and provides the agility to improve operational efficiency through automation. Finally, it enables consistent management of networking and security policies across data centers, public and private clouds, and application frameworks, independent of physical network topology.
