Domestic organizations join hands to develop next-generation air mobility (AAM).

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute announced on the 21st that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Automobile Research Institute for the development of next-generation air traffic management (AAM) and related fields. The event was held at the main building of the Korea Automobile Research Institute with the attendance of Lee Dae-seong, director of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, Na Seung-sik, and other officials from the institute.

This business agreement aims to share the resources and capabilities of both organizations and to cooperate with each other. It aims to jointly contribute to various research to promote the development and utilization of Korea's next-generation air traffic (AAM) ecosystem.

Accordingly, the main contents of the joint efforts to activate AAM include: △ Discovering demand to promote the use of AAM △ Joint research for the development of related key components and airframes △ Expanding mutual exchanges and cooperation on new technologies such as AAM, drones, and digital twins △ Hosting various seminars to exchange research results, technology, and information between the two organizations.

The Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology (KIAST) under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport trains aviation safety technology experts necessary for aviation safety and carries out certification, testing, research and technology development related to aviation accident prevention. We have been conducting policy support, international cooperation, and safety research on everything from drones to UAM and future air mobility.

Lee Dae-sung, the head of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, said, “I hope this agreement will lead to results that will help develop and promote next-generation air mobility (AAM) through mobility technology exchanges that extend from the ground to the sky,” adding, “We will spare no support to contribute to the revitalization of the industrial ecosystem and help our country emerge as a leading country in next-generation air mobility (AAM).”
