On the 19th, IBM Korea held the 'IBM Tech Summit Seoul 2023' conference at the Conrad Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, under the theme of 'Transformation of the Enterprise with Generative AI', introducing IBM's AI strategy and approach and allowing customers to experience actual demos through an exhibition.

The IBM Watson X platform consists of three solutions: Watson X.ai, Watson X.data, and Watson X.governance.

At the event, IBM Korea's Lee Ji-eun, technology leader and CTO, said, "We are only integrating AI technology.Rather than approaching it as a business case, it should be optimized to fit the needs of each company,” he said. He also argued that “in a rapidly changing environment, an open strategy that can embrace the open source environment is important.”

Applying enterprise AI can improve employee productivity through IT process automation. According to IBM data, when AI was introduced in employee management, performance management, and document work, actual productivity improved by 40%. In addition, various generative AI cases such as app modernization and IT development and operation are increasing.

The CTO added that IBM's AI strategy for 2030 is to "research how to run AI cost-effectively as AI increasingly demands more computing power through 2025."

This was followed by a presentation by Shanker Selvadurai, Vice President and CTO, IBM Technology Asia Pacific. Together with Bassem Asseh, President of Worldwide Sales, HuggingFace, he outlined the benefits that customers using the IBM Watson x platform will receive through the recently announced partnership between IBM and HuggingFace, the world’s largest open source AI community.

IBM collaborates with HuggingFace to provide open source AI models on Watson X. IBM emphasized that customers can bring and use the foundation model they want to the Watson X platform depending on their usage purposes, including various foundation models, as well as their own foundation models built by corporate customers and HuggingFace's open source foundation model.

In particular, Watsonx.ai Studio will be built on the open source library of Huggingface and will provide thousands of Huggingface open models and data sets. Based on this open ecosystem, customers can utilize the models and architectures that best fit their business requirements.

Bassem Ase said that the advantages of using open source over closed source are that it is more usable, does not use black box APIs, and allows transparent operation. In addition, it can be independent of vendors. In addition, compatibility and flexibility can be secured.

Meanwhile, LG CNS participated in this event and introduced cloud integrated operation services such as ‘CloudXper ProOps’ and ‘FinOps Clinic.’
