u-blox announced on the 20th that it is releasing a version of u-blox PointPerfect Localized Distribution, which enhances the functionality of its PointPerfect GNSS correction service.

This regional transmission version transmits significantly less data than continental streams, reducing bandwidth by up to 70%, resulting in significant data savings for users.

The PointPerfect area-based transmission version is ideal for high-precision applications with limited bandwidth and connectivity, such as precision agriculture use cases such as autonomous farming and agricultural robots.

Additionally, this local unit transmission version can be used in a variety of applications such as service robots, micromobility, heavy equipment, and high-precision mobile robots.

PointPerfect is a PPP-RTK (Precise Point Positioning, Real-Time Kinematic) GNSS correction data service that provides centimeter-level positioning accuracy within seconds.

This service is available up to 12 nautical miles from the coastline of Korea, Europe, the United States, Canada, and Australia.It provides uniform coverage even at sea (up to 22 kilometers).

The u-blox PointPerfect service typically requires 2,400 bits/s of data bandwidth for continental streams. Now, by using this regional transmission version, bandwidth can be reduced by nearly a third.

With this innovative approach, devices subscribe to a localized transmission version stream based on their location. This filtering out irrelevant data for that location ensures only optimized data is transmitted. This approach significantly reduces bandwidth requirements. As with continental streams, localized transmission versions eliminate the need to communicate the rover's location to PointPerfect, ensuring privacy and security. The new localized transmission version of the u-blox PointPerfect service is available immediately.
