Schneider Electric (Kim Kyung-rok, Country Manager for Korea), a global company leading digital innovation in the field of energy management and automation, is helping Guardian Glass, a leading U.S. glass manufacturer, manage its power and realize power digitalization.

Schneider announced on the 27th that it supplied its integrated power monitoring solution, EcoStruxure architecture, to Guardian Glass's factory.

Guardian Glass, which operates a 750,000-square-foot factory in Iowa, USA, adopted Schneider Electric's solutions to improve power stability and efficiency.

Guardian Glass identifies energy usage and power quality issues in the factory through Schneider Electric PowerLogic™ power meters installed on-site.

In addition, Guardian Glass has been able to fully identify alerts for all system issues, such as power factor and real-time power, through Schneider Electric's integrated power management software, EcoStrucxure Power Monitoring Expert (PME).

Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure PME collects data from power infrastructure equipment such as digital protective relays, circuit breakers, digital meters, and wireless temperature and humidity sensors, and displays the flow of energy in the form of a dashboard.By visualizing the flow and status, the integrated energy status within the factory can be monitored.

Connecting factory solutions with energy and power management system software such as PME enables work simplification, streamlined activities, and process automation, thereby realizing the full potential of power digitalization.

Mike Flesc, Senior Control Engineer at Guardian Glass, said, “Since Guardian Glass produces about 700 tons of glass 24 hours a day using a furnace operating at 2,800ºF, a furnace shutdown could have catastrophic consequences,” adding, “Thanks to the digital transformation through Schneider Electric EcoStruxure solutions, we were able to gain significant insights into power, reliability, and power factors.”
