Fortinet provides consistent security, management, and analytics across hybrid network environments through a single platform.

Fortinet Korea, a networking security convergence solution company, announced its future vision and strategy based on its secure networking portfolio and 'Single OS' at its headquarters in Samseong-dong on the 6th.

“In the next decade, secure networking will transcend traditional networking to become a major market that seamlessly supports the massive processing requirements of secure connections,” said Filippo Cassini, Vice President and CTO of Fortinet. “FortiGate is strengthening its unified management and analytics across its secure networking portfolio to provide superior visibility and execution power across multiple business environments.”

“The Korean security market is the first country outside of the U.S. that we have entered, and as a manufacturing powerhouse, security is very important. At the same time, Korea is exposed to cyber threats from various situations, so we expect a lot of demand,” said Robert May, Vice President of Product Management at Fortinet. Fortinet was founded over 20 years ago and was adopted as the first VPN for Sambo Computer in Korea in 2002.

As many applications, including those deployed by enterprises to the cloud, move outside local data centers, sensitive data is becoming increasingly distributed. Consequently, the need for unified visibility and unified control across the network is growing.

Traditional networks were protected by firewalls within the office, but the rise of remote and home working has led to a surge in new internet connections, creating new security threats. The problem is that cloud security environments exist separately from physical security environments. These two environments maintain separate logs, and communication between them incurs costs.

To overcome this, the convergence of networking and security has been achieved. Most companies are transitioning to a "secure networking" approach that integrates security and networking.

Fortinet's 'FortiGate Security Fabric' is a platform developed to automate and simplify security operations. Fortinet has enabled customers to run unified management and analytics across its secure networking portfolio, including hybrid mesh firewalls, single-vendor SASE, universal ZTNA, secure SD-WAN, and secure WLAN/LAN.

“FortiNet integrates and manages all its capabilities based on FortiOS, a single operating system that spans all environments – on-premises, public cloud and SaaS, small offices to data centers,” said Vice President Robert May. “In particular, the ‘Single OS (FortiOS Anywhere)’ environment based on FortiOS 7.4 announced this time has significantly enhanced capabilities such as SD-WAN self-orchestrator, attack surface monitoring, and attack surface management expansion.”

FortiSASE integrates cloud-based security and networking to simplify operations across hybrid networks. Users will be presented with the same format in any environment.

This integration with Fortinet's centralized management solution, FortiManager, positions the company as the industry's only vendor to provide consistent security, management, and analytics across the entire hybrid network.
The advantage of Fortinet's solution is that security-related configurations, such as optimization services, are applied uniformly across all operating systems, eliminating the need for individual location-specific configurations. Furthermore, zero-trust security can be collected and synchronized from a single location, eliminating the need for re-learning based on a single logic for various security threats.

Fortinet said, "Gartner recognized Fortinet's network and cloud integration as 'FortiNet's Single-Vendor SASE,' but we will not stop there. We aim to be recognized as a universal SASE vendor by integrating various security and network elements into a single architecture."

Vice President Robert May cited Fortinet's solution's ability to secure every single node on the network as a key advantage over competitors, achieving efficiency. This allows for a tenth of the time required to build an architecture compared to competitors. It also helps ensure simplicity and reduce costs by continuing to apply single licensing.

Fortinet said, "As the largest security solutions provider, we will evolve our architecture to integrate the cloud and physical devices," and added, "While we will support integrations with non-FortiNet vendors in the future, we will target our existing customers for now."
