SK Specialty (CEO Lee Kyu-won), an eco-friendly Specialty Gas & Chemical technology company, has been recognized as a top-tier, trustworthy company in Korea after receiving the highest-ranking government award in the environment and safety sectors.

SK Specialty announced on the 14th that it received the Prime Minister's Award at the 'Korea Safety Awards' hosted by the Fire Department on the 2nd, and the Presidential Award at the 'Green Management Awards' hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Environment on the 9th.

First, the Green Management Award is a representative government award in the field of environmental management that recognizes and presents companies and individuals who are striving to respond to strengthening domestic and international environmental regulations in the areas of climate change and energy resources.

SK Specialty has signed the largest solar power direct purchase agreement (PPA) in Korea to achieve Net Zero and RE100 early by 2030, and has simultaneously obtained carbon footprint 'measurement' and 'reduction' certifications.

It was evaluated as having played a leading role in responding to climate change, such as achieving a waste recycling rate of 95% (ZWTL Gold) in 2023 and concretizing action plans with the goal of achieving 100% wastewater recycling by 2030.It received [the award] and was selected as a Presidential Award winner.

The Korea Safety Awards is the nation's most prestigious award presented to companies and organizations that have demonstrated exemplary safety management. It is hosted by the National Fire Agency and co-organized by the Korea Safety Certification Institute, the Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute, and the Korea Fire Safety Institute.

SK Specialty invests more than 3% of its annual revenue in improving safety equipment and working environments, securing an advanced safety response system including the introduction of dual gas valves, water curtain barriers, storage facility shielding systems, emergency automatic shut-off devices, and a monitoring system for controlling personnel entering the process using IoT and LoRa.

In addition, about 2,000 gas leak detectors have been installed throughout the factory area, and a hotline is operated with seven local agencies, including the city hall and fire department, to ensure the safety of residents in case of an emergency.

Through this, the company was selected as a recipient of the Prime Minister's Award in recognition of its achievements in safety management, such as obtaining the highest level P grade in the Process Safety Management (PSM) evaluation in 2022 and securing space safety certification from the Korea Safety Certification Institute in 2023.
