Newland Korea (CEO Taeho Sung), the Korean branch of Newland AIDC, a global leader in scan engines, scanners, and mobile computers, announced on the 14th that it is introducing the 'NLS-FM3280,' a two-in-one fixed barcode scanner product that combines scanning and near-field communication (NFC) functions.

The new product introduced by Newland Korea is the top-of-the-line model in AIDC's FM3X series, equipped with a high-performance CMOS camera (1.3 MP) to provide superior image quality.

In particular, the NLS-FM3280 offers excellent scanning performance for both screen-based and paper-printed codes, and has the advantage of being applicable in various fields due to its ability to read from longer distances.

In addition, it is suitable for use in harsh environments such as strong or dark lighting due to its excellent protection performance, and since the size of the main body and the location of the mounting holes are the same as the existing FM3080 product, existing customers can conveniently install this new product.

Optionally, it supports Wiegand and RS485 interfaces, allowing it to be used for security and access control purposes.

In addition, since NFC is offered as an option, it is easy even when both NFC and scanning functions are needed. It can be used and supports a wide voltage 5–24V power input suitable for various working conditions.

Other key features include: △ providing superior scanning performance with megapixels, making it specialized for low-resolution barcodes and suitable for use in harsh environments; △ boasting excellent weather resistance with IP67 water and dust resistance, as well as enhanced reliability and durability with IP67 rating; △ switching from power-saving mode to scan mode when a barcode is presented through enhanced motion and light sensitivity supported by IR and optical sensors; and △ enabling faster code scanning by providing ultra-high-speed motion tolerance.

The NLS-FM3280 reveals superior features when comparing its specifications with those of competing products. Newland’s NLS-FM3280 boasts a specification of 1280×1088, which is superior to that of competitors. In terms of FOV, the Newland product features H58.2° and V66°, which are wider than the average field of view of other competitors, enabling scanning of a larger area.

In addition, unlike products from other competitors that offer only one voltage, Newland products offer a wide range of voltages from 5 to 24V and boast various options such as IR sensors, NFC support, and water and dust resistance.

Newland Korea explained that the newly introduced NLS-FM3280 can be used in various specialized application fields, such as self-checkout retail, kiosks (screen-type barcodes and paper-printed barcodes), and access control (NFC and barcodes).
