It was found that South Korea's semiconductor equipment sales in the third quarter of 2023 decreased by 19% compared to the previous year.

According to the Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics report from SEMI, an industry association representing the global electronics industry supply chain, global semiconductor equipment sales in the third quarter of 2023 were $25.6 billion, down 11% from the same period last year.

Our country's figure was $3.85 billion, a 19% decrease from the same period last year. In terms of market size, it ranked second after China.

In contrast to other regions, which saw an overall decline, China saw a 42% year-on-year increase to $11.06 billion.

Taiwan's sales fell 48% year-on-year to $3.77 billion, while North America's sales fell 5% year-on-year to $2.5 billion.

Japan's total fell 29% year-on-year to $1.82 billion, while Europe's total rose 2% year-on-year to $1.7 billion.

“Semiconductor equipment sales declined year-over-year in the third quarter of 2023 due to a decline in demand for semiconductor chips, but unlike other regions, China showed notable growth due to investments in mature node processes,” said Ajit Manocha, CEO of SEMI.
