ZEISS Korea (CEO Hyun-Seok Jeong), a German company and global leader in optics, is practicing social values by carrying out various social contribution activities for the underprivileged and future generations as the year approaches.

On the 1st, Zeiss Korea donated 10,000 briquettes to low-income families through the Coal Bank of the Bapsang Community Welfare Foundation, a social welfare corporation, and distributed 3,000 briquettes to underprivileged people in Guryong Village, Gangnam-gu. Approximately 60 Zeiss Korea employees participated in the volunteer activity and delivered the briquettes throughout Guryong Village.

In November, the company also launched the "ZEISS Science Classroom," offering STEM education to elementary school students with a keen interest in science. STEM, an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, is recognized as a mandatory curriculum in many countries, demonstrating its importance. The ZEISS Group is currently running a STEM education program called "A Heart for Science" globally to inspire and foster students' curiosity about basic science and engineering.

Zeiss Korea participated in these activities and organized this program to foster students' interest and curiosity in basic science and engineering. This year's Zeiss Science Class was attended by elementary school students from Osan, Gyeonggi Province. Zeiss Korea employees and partners conducted engaging STEM classes utilizing Zeiss microscopes. Driven by the high participation and enthusiastic response of students, Zeiss Korea plans to expand the program by adding a variety of science tools and operating the class starting in 2024.

Regarding this social contribution activity, Jeong Hyeon-seok, CEO of Zeiss Korea, emphasized, "Zeiss Korea values its social responsibility in the Korean market. Just as the Zeiss Group headquarters in Germany is already faithfully fulfilling its social responsibilities, we also have a strong interest and commitment to this in Korea."

Regarding the Zeiss Science Lab in particular, he stated, "This is part of Zeiss's global 'A Heart for Science' social contribution project, and it's now fully operational in Korea. I hope that STEM education will provide more opportunities for Korea's future generations, inspire students, and contribute, however small, to the advancement of technology and science in Korea."
