The AWR294x is a single-chip millimeter wave (mmWave) sensor featuring a radar data processing element and peripherals, as well as an FMCW transceiver (76 GHz to 81 GHz band), making it an ideal solution for low-power, self-monitoring, and high-accuracy radar systems in in-vehicle networking applications.

TI's AWR294x radar sensors, available at Mouser, feature TI's low-power 45nm radio frequency complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (RFCOMS) and a programmable Arm® Cortex®-R5F processor, enabling highly efficient development of automotive interfaces and custom control applications with a small form factor and minimal bill of materials (BOM).

The AWR294x includes a T-band for radar signal processing, including an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL) and mixer, voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), and baseband analog-to-digital converter (ADC).It includes a DSP subsystem (DSS) with a high-performance C66x digital signal processing (DSP) chip and a radio processor subsystem (RSS) that handles control, configuration, and calibration of the radar front end.

The AWR294x's hardware accelerator block (HWA 2.0) can efficiently handle general radar processing, saving processing power and resources for custom applications and higher-level algorithm development.

Additionally, it can be reconfigured with a simple programming model change, enabling the implementation of multi-mode sensors. A hardware security module (HSM) with a programmable Arm Cortex-M4 core provides a secure operating area.

The AWR2944EVM radar sensor evaluation module is an easy-to-use platform for demonstration and development of the AWR2944 radar sensor.

The AWR2944EVM kit includes everything needed to start software development for the on-chip C66x DSP and Arm Cortex-R5F controller and hardware accelerator (HWA 2.0).

It also supports onboard buttons and LEDs for quick integration with onboard emulation and a simple user interface for programming and debugging.
