Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will introduce a large number of next-generation AI-based products at CES 2024.

The world's largest IT and consumer electronics exhibition, CES 2024, is set to be held in Las Vegas, USA, from January 9 to 12 (local time) next year. This year, under the theme "ALL TOGETHER. ALL ON," it will share next-generation technologies.

Approximately 4,000 companies are expected to participate in CES 2024, and more than 130,000 visitors are expected to attend. This year, a variety of new products are expected to be introduced, centering on sustainability, digital health, AI, and mobility.

At CES 2024, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will showcase the 'Bespoke Jet AI' robot vacuum cleaner, the 'Bespoke Family Hub Plus' refrigerator, 'Anyplace Induction', and 'Samsung Food Service' as part of the AI food ecosystem, and the Smart Home AI Agent, 4K projector LG CineBeam Cube, Wow Orchestra Soundbar, and MyCup tumbler dishwasher, respectively.

■ Samsung Electronics Unveils New AI Products… Operates C-Lab Exhibition Hall

Samsung Electronics presents its own food ecosystem through the organic connection of the 2024 'BESPOKE Family Hub Plus' refrigerator, 'AnyPlace' induction cooktop, and 'Samsung Food' service.

The new 'Family Hub' home IoT hub provides a solution that uses AI to manage ingredients and reduce food waste. Equipped with Vision AI capabilities, it monitors the entry and exit of ingredients to create a food list. Additionally, it connects with the Samsung Food service to recommend recipes based on the ingredients currently in storage. The newly unveiled Induction Anyplace features a 7-inch wide touch LCD, providing a screen experience in the kitchen space similar to the Family Hub refrigerator.
Samsung Electronics is introducing the 'Bespoke Jet Bot Combo,' a wet/dry dual-purpose robot vacuum. The 'Bespoke Jet Bot Combo' is characterized by the application of a three-stage automatic mop cleaning system consisting of water washing, steam sterilization, and hot air drying.

Core functions such as object recognition and driving performance have been upgraded based on AI. For example, the 'AI Floor Detection' function distinguishes between hardwood floors and carpets to provide customized cleaning based on the floor material. The 'AI Object Recognition' function utilizes 3D sensors and object recognition cameras to detect and avoid obstacles. Furthermore, equipped with an 'AI Mode' that classifies cleaning environments based on detected brush load and pressure to deliver optimized suction power, it became the first cordless stick vacuum cleaner in Korea to receive AI+ certification from the Korean Standards Association.

At this exhibition, Samsung Electronics will showcase 15 projects and startups at the 'C-Lab Pavilion' in 'Eureka Park,' a startup exhibition hall within the Venetian Expo in Vegas. These include 10 startups from 'C-Lab Outside,' a new incubation program established by Samsung Electronics based on its operational know-how for in-house venture programs.

Dr. Tail, a veterinarian remote consultation service startup exhibiting at the C-Lab Hall, collaborated with Samsung Electronics to achieve the result of having its service integrated into Samsung Smart TVs launching in the U.S. starting in 2024.

■ LG Electronics Adds Convenience to Everyday Life
LG Electronics is unveiling the "Smart Home AI Agent" for the first time with the goal of "enhancing the value of life through liberation from housework." The Smart Home AI Agent serves as an all-around household assistant that provides help with daily life, including the Smart Home Hub.

Based on robotics and AI technology, it moves freely throughout the house using wheels on its two legs and autonomous driving technology. Leveraging multimodal sensing that incorporates voice, sound, and image recognition, along with advanced AI processes, it precisely perceives the user's situation and state and communicates actively. In particular, equipped with two articulated legs, it naturally overcomes obstacles and is capable of expressing emotions on its display. It functions as a 'companion appliance' that can greet you at the front door like a secretary or interact with you according to your mood.

As both a smart home AI agent and a futuristic smart home hub, it allows for convenient connection and control of home appliances and IoT devices. It enables remote monitoring, allowing you to turn on lights or operate air conditioners only in specific areas, and receive smartphone alerts for abnormal situations such as external intrusions.
LG Electronics will unveil the ultra-compact 4K projector 'LG CineBeam Cube' for the first time at CES 2024. Weighing 1.49kg and featuring a handle, its small size enhances portability, while its performance delivers a 4K screen up to 120 inches. It meets 154% DCI-P3 coverage and supports a contrast ratio of 450,000:1, ensuring accurate color reproduction. The maximum brightness is 500 ANSI lumens. Additionally, equipped with webOS 6.0, it allows users to access OTT services such as YouTube and Netflix when connected to the internet.

LG Electronics is also launching a new 2024 soundbar designed to match the extra-large TV screen size. The flagship model, the S95TR, enables wireless connection with LG Electronics' premium TVs and supports surround sound technologies such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as HDMI eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), which plays high-quality audio without loss.

LG Electronics is also introducing the 'WOW Orchestra' feature, which utilizes both the TV speakers and the soundbar speakers simultaneously. Based on AI, this product delivers optimal sound effects tailored to the content genre. It identifies the positions of not only the front speakers but also the rear speakers to correct the sound, allowing users to enjoy distortion-free audio.

"MyCup," a tumbler dishwasher born from LG Electronics' ESG management philosophy, is a product designed to allow users to easily and cleanly wash and use tumblers instead of disposable cups in cafes, offices, and public places. Users simply install the "MyCup" app on their smartphone, visit a location where MyCup is installed, open the top door of the dishwasher, place the tumbler upside down inside, close the door, and select their desired course on the app. LG Electronics has been testing the product in actual use at select Starbucks stores since last year and plans to launch it in the first half of 2024.
