IT devices are making everything wearable. Following smart watches and augmented reality glasses/goggles, smart rings are starting to show their presence in the market.

Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy Ring design to the public for the first time at MWC24 in Barcelona, Spain on the 26th (local time).

Until the official launch, the product cannot be directly worn or used as it is displayed in an acrylic case for security reasons, but the public's expectations are being raised by revealing its design and functions.
Samsung's Galaxy Ring, due out later this year, is designed as a device with healthcare capabilities as its primary purpose. Samsung Electronics explained, “It can be worn even while sleeping, and the inner side of the ring wraps around the finger, allowing for detailed health data measurement.”

Currently, a total of nine sizes in three colors - black, gold, and silver - are on display at MWC24.

According to foreign media, the Galaxy Ring is said to 'measure health indicators such as heart rate, breathing rate, degree of movement during sleep, and time taken to fall asleep, and inform the user of their condition score for the day.'

In addition, it has been reported that the Galaxy Ring is considering adding a contactless payment function like a smartphone, and that non-invasive blood sugar monitoring is also being researched, raising attention to whether an era of routine blood sugar management without drawing blood will come.
