ROHM's GaN solution has been adopted in new high-performance fast chargers, contributing to improved performance and reliability and miniaturization in charging applications.


ROHM announced on the 27th that its 650V GaN device (EcoGaN™) has been adopted in the 'C4 Duo', a 45W output AC adapter (fast charger) from Innergie, a brand of Delta Electronics, Inc. of Taiwan.

Delta is a global company specializing in IoT-based green solutions.

This Delta Innergie AC adapter is equipped with ROHM’s EcoGaN™ ‘GNP1150TCA-Z’, which enables high efficiency of the power system, contributing to improved performance and reliability of the application and miniaturization.

To realize a decarbonized society, the response to low power is accelerating, particularly for high-power handling equipment, as power loss is significant.

In addition, regarding power supplies, operating the device at high frequencies enables not only low power consumption but also circuit miniaturization, so the adoption of devices using GaN (gallium nitride), which allows for high-speed switching, is being widely considered.

As for discrete products, mass production of a 150V withstand voltage GaN HEMT began in 2022, and in 2023, mass production of a 650V withstand voltage GaN HEMT with the industry's highest level of device performance (RDS(ON)×Ciss / RDS(ON)×Coss) was achieved.

It was adopted because it was evaluated that the ESD protection device embedded in the 650V withstand voltage product 'GNP1150TCA-Z' improved the electrostatic breakdown withstand capability by about 75% compared to general GaN HEMT products, which could lead to high reliability in applications.
